Shirin Emtenani received her M.Sc. degree in biochemistry from the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM), Iran, in 2013. In November 2014, she began her Ph.D. education at the Lübeck Institute of Experimental Dermatology (LIED), University of Lübeck, Germany, and became associated to the DFG-funded Research Training Group 1727. In her Ph.D. thesis she investigated pathophysiologic mechanisms by cloning and comprehensive functional characterization of human autoantibodies in IgA-mediated pemphigus.
Following to her graduation in April 2019, she joined Prof. Dr. Enno Schmidt’s group (LIED, Division of Translational Research) as a postdoctoral researcher, where she continues to study various aspects of autoimmune skin disorders. Her research focuses on establishing in vivo models of pemphigus and pemphigoid diseases, for translational use for example in experimental therapeutic studies.
